Winter is here and the demand for cold weather gear is rife. The mercury has dropped below freezing for my morning ride and roadside snow has made it’s first appearance. As unpleasant as the antarctic air may be, there is a certain satisfaction pushing uphill through snow drifts in peaceful still conditions. Going down again is a different matter…..

As a design feature of the Cobra9 cycling orthotic, the dual density EVA top covers keep the feet insulated from the wind chill entering the cycling shoe. They work well in conjunction with the winter shoe covers to keep feet toasty on those frosty mornings. Winter vests, long sleeve jerseys and caps round out the other essential winter kit. Check out the products page for details of team kit and the Cobra9 cycling orthotics.

The new section west of Noosa, through the hills of Pomona, Cooroy and Kenilworth added another dimension to the ride. “Restaurant Hill”, was a noticeable omission on the run home via Bli Bli and out to Marcoola on the coast. The bunch that formed in the first 80 hilly kilometres hung together through the final run up the coast and crossed the line relatively intact.

A few of us were musing after the race that a finish on top of the Noosa hill at the round-about at the Reef Hotel would add the icing to an otherwise perfect course….

The cobra9 team spent a wonderful morning riding and chatting to the punters at the Ipswich 100. A fantastic ride well organised by the Lions Team. The 100 km guys rode well and enjoyed answering queries from cyclists regarding cobra9 orthotics. A few more guys have become part of the team and are now enjoying the comfort provided by the cobra9′s.

The 100 mile event was a different beast with the 12 deadly hills taking their toll on the guys. Adam managed a top five and the rest of the team managed to get home in the top 20. The imperial 100 is a wonderful challenge and I can not recommend it more highly to those wishing to test their metal.

All those casted at Brisbane should now be enjoying their cobra9′s.

Keep an eye out for our next casting sessions and the events we are attending. Contact us to organise a cast or if you have any further queries.

I have recently been contacted by a cyclist in Western Australia who has asked why Cobra9 casts all clients personally rather then ‘posting’ kits as other manufacturers routinely do.

The simple answer is – ‘We cant trust you to do what it has taken us years to perfect’.

We have trialled kits in the past however the resulting impressions vary enormously, resulting in an inferior and inconsistent product. We at Cobra9 pride ourselves on a superior product and are not prepared to accept this form of compromise. Feel secure that your footbeds/orthotics are casted, fabricated and modified by us, biomechanics podiatrists with years of cycling orthotic experience.

We don’t compromise, nor should you….

We are then travelling on to Brisbane and Ipswich on the 28th of March for the Ipswich100. You can visit us on the day or contact us if you are unable to make it to this wonderful event.

In other news,

Scottish from Team Cobra9 performed admirably in the Mt Wellington time trial achieving 13th place with a time of 1:02:06 which is an amazing 21.26kph. The overall winner was Ben Grenda (Genesys Wealth) with a superb 53:47 averaging 24.54kph. Scottish aims to crack the 1 hour mark next year. With his Cobra9′s and a pair of Zipp 303′s, he just might do it.
