Battle on the Border ’14 – Come get some..

racing

May is upon us and so is the annual Battle on the Border cycling festival.  As in previous years, a large contingent of Cobra9 Intebuild riders will head down to take part in the furious racing around the picturesque hills of northern New South Wales.  This year we will be targeting Masters A Grade with a large compliment of lads keen to make a big impact on the division.  Without doubt, this year sees our strongest line up since we started competing in the event in 2010.  The riders this year are:

Matthew Ryan (Moreton Bay C.C) sprinter

Timothy Dalgleish (Moreton Bay C.C) rouleur/time trial

Scott Nolan (Port Adelaide Cycling Club)rouleur/time trial

Adam White (Queenland Uni) rouleur/climber

Nathan White (Cyc’d Cycling) rouleur

Dugald Macarthur (Lifecycle) rouleur

Glen Evangelista (Cyc’d Cycling) sprinter

With such a diverse line up of riders across the team, we are aiming to be competitive in all facets of the racing.  The course is lumpy again with nasty hills punctuating the otherwise dead flat cane fields.  The road surfaces also pose a challenge with rutted and potholed bitumen, loose gravel and dappled light playing havoc with cyclists and bidons alike.

The team has been further strengthened for this race with the addition of Scott Nolan from South Australia.   Scott was supposed to have raced in the last round of the QRTS after making the journey up from Adelaide, however was ruled out on the morning of racing with a virus.  He is gagging to make amends.  Along with Scott, Tim Dalgleish has seamlessly joined the squad to add punch to our time trialling and all round road racing.  As always, the general on the road is the irrepressible Matt Ryan who has been in sublime form this year winning the Sizzling Summer Series before a searing burst of speed got him home at the ANZAC 25.

The masters A field is 91 strong this year with a lot of the heavy hitters from the Brisbane circuit as well as a few smokies from south of the border.  We are looking forward to a hard weekend of racing.

We will endeavour to keep the website up to date over the weekend with the results as they come to hand.  Follow us on facebook for up to date information.

Big thanks to our sponsors for their continued support.
