Scottish chewing it

It’s over for another year.  The annual Battle of the Border was run and won and Cobra9 gave a good account of ourselves in Elite B.  9th overall to Scottish (25 seconds down) and some good efforts for stage wins demonstrated the we were certainly amongst it.  Not bad for a group of lads average age of 37 with 8 children between us.  It’s always nice to get a tast of your mortality by the young guys in the field.  Plenty of pain dished out throughout the event and the criterium was no different.

How to look good whilst being dropped

Unfortunately, the notoriously tight course claimed a victim from Cobra9 with Adam being force into a barrier with a few laps to go.  Evasive action spared him any road rash but a direct hit on the curb fractured his collar bone neatly and his time on the bike will be minimal over the next month.  He will find out whether surgery is required this week.  Adam is also extensively involved in the web site development and maintenance so hopefully his absence wont be felt too keenly at Cobra9.

A full gallery of photos will be up on the site shortly.  More developments regarding Cobra9 to follow in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned.

Thanks to all those who supported and played supporter roles for the team over the weekend, especially new member Dugald.  Also a big ongoing thanks to all our wives and families who put up with our antics, early starts, absences and occasionally have to deal with the anxiety that comes with the demanding and dangerous sport of cycling.  Rest assured, we’re not going to stop any time soon!
